2023-07-30 ETHBTC-THANG! Day 63

2023-07-30 ETHBTC-THANG! Day 63

The ETHBTC-THANG!

  • swap 0.0172 $BTC

After swap:

ETH: 5.34659
BTC: 0.00010

Total: $9,985.44

I do ye ol' ETHBTC-thang!:

  1. withdraw the $BTC from @TeamKujira Ghost Lend

  1. bridge to @osmosiszone via Satellite (you're welcome Satellite)

  1. swap $BTC -> $ETH

But let's pause there and take stock.

Does the ETHBTC-thang! actually work? How do we measure that?

We measure it thusly: with good record-keeping.

  • Yesterday, I traded 0.267176 $ETH for some $BTC
  • Today I traded that $BTC back (minus ε of the bridge fee from Satellite) for 0.26757 $ETH.

That is to say, today I traded slightly less $BTC back for slightly more $ETH.

It works.

Rust pop-answer: call REST endpoint

#Rust pop-answer to the quiz to embed a call to the CoinMarketCap REST endpoint.

The new ./cmc_prices entailed a wee bit o' reading from me, as I had to find out how to add header-information to the get-request to the REST endpoint.

2023-07-29 ETHBTC-THANG! Day 62

2023-07-29 ETHBTC-THANG! Day 62

  • swap 0.2673 $ETH

After swap:

ETH: 5.07919
BTC: 0.01734
Total: $10,028.62

So, I do the ETHBTC-thang!

  1. I bridge 0.2673 $wETH to @osmosiszone via Satellite

  1. I swap the $wETH to $wBTC on @osmosiszone

  1. I bridge the 0.017 $wBTC to @TeamKujira via IBC

  1. I lend that $wBTC on Ghost.

Sweet!

Eventually, we'll get to a point where either $ETH or $BTC return to a previous value in this cycle (parity). When that occurs we can do apples-to-apples comparisons to chart growth of one or the other token verses the token at parity.

Never fear: I'll announce it when it comes.

Cryptocurrency pop-quiz: archive data into git

Those are many preexisting files to reduce to one file.

It'd be a shame to lose all that rich just-waiting-to-be-analyzed data.

I WONDER if'n there were a way to archive all those data, efficaciously?

#cryptocurrency pop-quiz

Write a program that archives those files into git.

Cryptocurrency pop-quiz: systemic git-integration

#Cryptocurrency pop-quiz

Preamble

My system, ./cmc_filter receives a JSON file,

along with a configuration file of tracked coin( names)s, and spits out price-data on the tracked coins.

This system runs off of Makefile

Problem statement

You see (LT) that this approach generates many files, as values change, day-to-day.

Huh! This sounds like a versioning-issue.

Update the system so that ./cmc_prices outputs a single (not-dated) file and ./cmc_filter reads that file AND GIT VERSIONS THAT FILE!

Rust pop-quiz: use REST endpoint

#Rust pop-quiz

My system, ./cmc_prices receives a dated JSON file from a curl extract.

Update it to extract these data from the @CoinMarketCap REST endpoint directly.

2023-07-28 ETHBTC-THANG! Day 61

2023-07-28 ETHBTC-THANG! Day 61

  • swap 0.0000 $BTC (no swap)

ETH: 5.34651
BTC: 0.00000
Total: $9,967.55

SO CLOSE to a swap (see the EMA-20), but that's okay. I can wait. I'm in this for the long-haul.

A Tour of Cardano Indigo protocol

Let's open a @Cardano @Indigo_protocol position.

This will be a fun little tour/HOWTO.

Please see @technologypoet deep-dive into Indigo.

To invest into @Indigo_protocol, I need liquidity on @Cardano.

There are several ways to get liquidity to Cardano. I have liquidity on @avax, so I'll transfer from there via @coinbase.

I transfer $AVAX from my Avalanche-wallet to Coinbase, swap to $ADA, then transfer to Cardano.

So, buying $iETH. There're 2 ways to do this:

  1. Mint $iETH with $ADA (staked, even, as @Indigo_protocol allows this). Here, however, is a risk of liquidation that doesn't interest me, as I'm not interested in keeping the $ADA, as others of you may be, if so: choose this option.
  1. Instead, I choose to swap my $ADA for $iETH, which I do.

This option has a risk. If $ADA skies, I miss out on that rocket-train to the Moon (and, yes: I just said 'rocket-train').

When I become an $ADA-maxi, I'll (also) incorporate the first way into my investment strategy.

Next, I go to stake my $iETH to start earning those sweet, sweet $ADA-yields (which I don't care about, at present, but maybe I'll stake the $ADA-yields to mint $iETH? to stake the $iETH to earn $ADA-yields)

I'M NOT A DEGEN! I SWEARSIES!

Narrator: liar.
me: 😤

I get the surprise of my movin' body, however, when I go to stake: I'm informed that my wallet collateral is 'missing' and I must authorize it before I can stake.

There is nothing in the @Indigo_protocol documentation about this problem, so I paste the error into @startpage.

Come to find that this is a Cardano-ism. You send your own address 5 $ADA to make this problem go away.

Hey: don't look at me. I don't make the rules.

Once I send 5 $ADA ... to myself (?) 🙄 I'm able to stake that $iETH and start earning those sweet, sweet $ADA-yields.
