2024-07-16 Kujira ecosystem

Let's run the 2024-07-16 price-report for tokens I trade on @TeamKujira.

I use ./kfc (./kfin and config files on github) to compute prices for me, automagically!

Manta DAO

I'm glad to see @Manta_DAO making a comeback to the top-5 order books on @TeamKujira FIN.

That being said, it's not (more than) 50% of FIN's 24-hour volume, like it used to be.

I'm looking for a Rocky-style comeback for @Manta_DAO.

SOMM?

Somebody want to clue me in on $SOMM?

What I mean by that is $SOMM was this high-yield lens into @ethereum. It was supposed to be this influence to make CØSMOS legit: an equal to Ethereum without the high fees, but then it faded, big time!

I see it, now, and again.

What gives?

2024-05-28 Kujira FIN order books: PnL

Let's do the @TeamKujira FIN, ORCA, ... and now, – PLOT TWIST! – @Manta_DAO DEX trades.

Let's see if ./pnl handles this addition of @Manta_DAO this month gracefully.

Analysis

So, I lost ~$30 on @TeamKujira trading May, 2024?

Nupe.

Let's look at the report more closely: https://x.com/logicalgraphs/status/1797024763967107334

See that loss of ~$600 $qcMNTA -> $MNTA?

I GAINED (not lost) 40 $MNTA, ROI: 3%; 8.7% APR

Why the ~$600 loss, then?

I'm using Average Cost Basis for pricing

Using Average Cost Basis, I show a $600-LOSS on that qc->$MNTA trade (that was a gain), COVERING $600 in gains I made in trades elsewhere.

I report a loss to the IRS, while actually making more than $600 this month.

And THAT, my frenz, is why your record-keeping must be SOLID!

2023-09-13 ETHBTC-THANG! Day 108

Let's do the ETHBTC-THANG!

I record the $ETH and $BTC prices from @osmosiszone, where errors are resurfacing for the $wBTC price.

I record these prices into my SPREADSHEETSZORXEN!

SPREADSHEETSZORXEN! says 'swap 0.00812 $BTC' (I'll come to that eventually), so I withdraw that amount from @TeamKujira Ghost lend.

But where to swap?

Aye: there's the rub.

Let's look at 4 (non-)options, then a fifth OG geophf-option.

For DEXen, worst (least $ETH from $BTC) to best (most).

For 0.00812 $BTC I get _ from: _

  1. 0.1299 $ETH: @THORSwap (ignoring gas fees)

  1. 0.1309 $ETH: @Manta_DAO

  1. 0.1315 $ETH: @osmosiszone

  1. 0.1317 $ETH: @NolusProtocol (lease then payoff)

Folks: learn leasing.

"...butbutbut HOWDOILEARNLEASING, o, el geophf?"

All on my blog, folks, with other juicy α. All free. For you.

"So, el geophf, ya gonna lease-then-payoff, then, for the BTC-ETH 'swap'?"

Maybe. The above four give you the (kinda-)DEX-approach.

Let's take a deeper dive.

These are the viable paths for the @TeamKujira order books, diagrammed by ./graphista.

These data are graphed in @neo4j cloud db Aura, uploaded with queries.cyp:

https://github.com/logicalgraphs/crypto-n-rust/blob/main/src/ch08/graphista/queries.cyp

Okay, fine. What are the directed and acyclic paths from $wBTC to $wETH?

Easy. That's the Cypher query:

match p=(c {name: "wBTC"})-[*1..4]->(c1{name: "wETH"})
return p

This, however, is inhuman AND inhumane in the amount of pathing one must do to trade from $wBTC to $wETH on @TeamKujira FIN.

That's why I have ./vern, my main man, ./vern.

There's a problem, however, when I output the viable paths as CSV.

Dear @neo4j,

Seriously? Again?

You've had this problem FOR YEARS!
I have pointed this problem out on MULTIPLE occasions!

Please fix CSV output to be NO QUOTES, not 300,000 quotes.

ffs 🙄

love, geophf

Dear @neo4j,

A reference how CSV output, that is: sane CSV output, SHOULD look like and how your CSV output USED TO look like.

You pay bounties for people who find bugs in your system?

wallet addy: kujira1h525rx052gx2qt9qc9jqj6f7thv5h3lylja47q

So, I'm a programmer.

Let's pretend problems don't distract me from just writing the d-mn solution.

They do, but let's pretend.

Behold.

all-isomorphic-paths.csv (up to 3-deep) on @TeamKujira FIN, ... NOW INCLUDING $MNTA ORDER BOOKS!! 💥💥💥

That, along with the latest market data and my (non-)list of synthetic order books allows me to run ./vern, my main man, ./vern!

What does ./vern say?

Huh! If that isn't disappointing!

But am I disappointed? No.

Sometimes, ./vern fails me, be it the verra smol amount traded or inactive-order-book hell.

This does not stop me. No weapon formed against me shall stop me.

I'll just find another way! Let's look at the order books

The key here is to look at the HIGHEST price to SELL $wBTC and the LOWEST price to BUY $wETH.

SELL HIGH; BUY LOW

Then create a path between those two, which entail mixing in:

USK,axlUSDC,ATOM,KUJI,MNTA,

not in any particular order.

So, the trick is to stitch the order books together in a pretty-durn-good transactional chain.

How do you know that your path is a winner?

Enter: ./emily

I run my three best guesses through ./emily, and ./emily tells me what the result of the trade is.

Now, ./emily runs the trade AT MARKET PRICE, ONLY! But that's what @Manta_DAO is supposed to do, automatically.

So why does ./emily easily beat @Manta_DAO? 🤔

@NolusProtocol lease-then-payoff just beats my best trade, without the hassle of going through five order books.

But, even still: it's not as easy as all that.

@NolusProtocol beats market price trades.

I NEVER trade at market price. Why would I?

So, with ./emily I can get the trade to be around 0.1355, just above or below market price, on order books with $1k+ 24-hour volumes.

So, I place the first order in the

> $wBTC > $USK > $axlUSDC > $ATOM > $KUJI > $wETH

trade-path, and call it a night.

G'night, fam. I have a video-conference at midnight, then a meeting at 1:15 am ET. 😴

Pivoted: $wBTC > $MNTA > $KUJI > $wETH

I'm at the $KUJI > $wETH part of the trade. I took a wee bit o' profit in $KUJI, and still I beat all DEX trades.

Next time I need to long the objective ($wETH) during these trades so the objective doesn't escape me on a moonshot.

New Records: Manta DAO

The $MNTA boards on @TeamKujira FIN have done it again, breaking all records, including their own, which is just predictable, but I bet still feels NIZE 😎 for @Manta_DAO.

  1. $MNTA order books are 5 of the top 5 order books
  2. $MNTA order books are 2/3rds of FIN 24-hour volume.

Manta DAO historic day

2023-08-15 is another historic day for @Manta_DAO:

  1. $MNTA order books comprise 3 of the top 5 order books by 24-hour volume
  2. $MNTA order books, combined, have slightly edged out all other order books on @TeamKujira, combined, for order books 24h-vol above $1,000 today.

CØSMOS interchain, ... or not.

A tale of 3 DEXen on CØSMOS interchain.

I want to swap $axlUSDC on @TeamKujira to $ATOM on @cosmos. Is that too much to ask?

Apparently it is.

Let's look at three DEXen: how they don't fill this simple request.

THIS IS CØSMOS _INTER_CHAIN and we can't even swap between zones.

  1. @tfm_com.

A small problem, or two:

  1. TFM doesn't recognize $axlUSDC on @TeamKujira.
  2. So, I use $USK? NUPE! TFM doesn't swap $USK to $ATOM, neither to @cosmos nor to @osmosiszone.

So, ... not so small problems. Not small at all.

  1. @Manta_DAO

Neat! These guys block me. For reasons I do not know.

Let's talk about there interchain swap.

It doesn't exist.

Let's talk about their swap.

It's ... 'better' than swapping directly on @TeamKujira FIN, ... for neophytes, but is it the best swap?

NUPE!

Let's look more closely at the @Manta_DAO swap.

It's straight-up axlUSDC/ATOM, so, if you went to @TeamKujira FIN and did this manually, you'd get the same result?

NUPE!

They charge you a percentage for doing the swap for you, in this case: 0.02 $ATOM.

Now, you may counter-argue: "But, geophf! I stake $MNTA! I get fees back in staking yields!"

No, you don't. You get 5% back, and NOT 5% of the fees, that's 5% for 100% of ALL $MNTA stakers.

You don't stake 100% of all the $MNTA in the world, do you?

No, the protocol owners do.

But, realistically, how much money do you make?

The only money I've ever made staking, so far, is on @harmonyprotocol, staking $ONE.

I did stake A LOT of $ONE. 😅

And that's what you need to do: you need to be another @SumoKuji, THEN you make money on OTHER PEOPLE's SWAPS.

So, @Manta_DAO has fees that make it subpar to FIN, but then, it's not even the best swap, not by a long shot.

@TeamKujira FIN is fundamentally better, every single limit order, but then:

  1. @osmosiszone is best, beating out both FIN and Manta.

But @osmosiszone is a DEX, it's not interchain, it's ... pseudo-interchain. It's quasi-interchain.

It takes 4 transfers, onto and off of @osmosiszone to $ATOM-ify $axlUSDC from @TeamKujira, as this tweet-in-🧵demonstrates

How, utterly, tiresome!

Conclusion: a call.

Now, looking at this 🧵, you may think I have a beef with one or all of these DEXen.

I don't. Each one provides a service/fills a need in the community in their respective ways.

I do have a request to CØSMOS BUIDL'rs.

Really? This is what one must do to swap between zones?

Until moving and trading liquidity is SEAMLESS, TRANSPARENT, and AUTOMATIC, that is: as easy as making a credit card purchase, then adoption will NOT go mainstream, but will continue to remain fringe.

Fringe: that 1% of us weirdos, nerds, geeks, and (supa)freaks.

Think about it
