2022-12-01 Trade: 11 ATOM

Let's talk about trading on @TeamKujira FIN.

How do I know what to trade? There's an eye for it, to be sure, but one can direct the trade-conversation.

Today, I'm talking trading $ATOM on FIN.

I ask ./vern, my main man, ./vern about trading $ATOM.

./vern says this:

So, I whip up my Gantt chart with ./gantt, and I'm done, right? Trade, ho!

... right?

Oh, and I just created ./gantt, just now, for this conversation.

Not so fast there, cowboy!

You see, I know, and I hope, you know something ./vern doesn't.

The ATOM / OSMO order book isn't FIN's most active, so trading into the book risks a (very) long wait.

Fortunately, I can ask ./vern to bypass ATOM / OSMO:

  • ATOM,USK,KUJI,ATOM,axlUSDC,OSMO

The new gantt chart with both paths is as follows.

So, there are a lot of trades here. Which path is faster?

  • Risk the ATOM / OSMO order book?
  • or circumvent it?
Knowing me, I'd choose both paths and see what develops. And that's how I'll make this play.

First (direct) path:

  • ATOM,OSMO,axlUSDC,USK,KUJI,ATOM
    • 2022-12-01 place 5.5 $ATOM -> _ $OSMO, SELL at 10.504 fulfilled
    • 2022-12-03 placed: 57.772 55.3372 $OSMO -> 55.6139 $axlUSDC, SELL at 1.005 fulfilled
    • New path: ATOM,axlUSDC,USK,ATOM
    • 2022-12-05 placed: 55.6139 $axlUSDC -> 53.3615 $USK, SELL at 0.9595 fulfilled
    • 2022-12-05 placed: 53.3615 $USK -> 5.5052 $ATOM, BUY at 9.694 fulfilled
    • CLOSED. 0.09% ROI over 4 days.

Second (circumventing ATOM / OSMO) path.

  • ATOM,USK,KUJI,ATOM,(axlUSDC,OSMO,axlUSDC,USK,ATOM)
    • 2022-12-01 placed 5.5 $ATOM -> 56.1 $USK, SELL at 10.2 fulfilled
    • 2022-12-02 placed 56.1 USK -> _ KUJI, BUY at 0.515 retracted
    • 2022-12-06 placed 56.1 USK -> 5.8676 ATOM, BUY at 9.5610 fulfilled
    • CLOSED, 6.68% ROI over 5 days.

Which one will finish first? We're OFT! to the races.

Log

The first limit order of 5.5 $ATOM -> $USK hit. So, I claim this fulfillment, then place the next order, which is $USK -> $KUJI.

This updates my gantt chart.

This order, and all my trades, are being tracked on my Trades-page.

2022-12-05:

On my 5 ATOM -> ATOM arb, I just settled

OSMO -> axlUSDC

Running the arb with current market conditions through ./vern, my main man, ./vern shows a VERY revised trade path.

M'KAY!

With that update, I just settled

axlUSDC -> USK

so:

53 $USK -> 5.5 $ATOM, BUY at 9.694

...

... and that last trade, USK -> ATOM just settled. 🎉😻

I can now close the 5 ATOM -> ATOM arb, realizing a 10% ROI over 4 days.

SWEET!

2022-12-06:

To that end,

  • I've canceled the USK -> KUJI order, stuck for 4 days.

  • I ran ./vern, my main man, ./vern. ./vern says: "Just buy the $ATOM, dummy!"

./vern salty rn

  • I placed the USK -> ATOM BUY limit order.

And LO! and BEHOLD!

As soon as I changed my order, it was fulfilled, and, not only that, I got MORE $ATOM (5.8) out of the original position (5 $ATOM), than the original trade-path anticipated (5.5 $ATOM).

Moral of the story: Being flexible and responsive is good.

Trade closed

Result:

2022-12-06: 11 $ATOM (total) -> 11.3728 $ATOM (total), 0.3728 $ATOM (3.39%) ROI, 5 days
