A catch-all order is a limit order so high (or so low) that a huge wick up (or down) is caught by this order.
or: selling 100 $ATOM at $40.
Those two are catch-alls.
The advantage of a catch-all is that you buy an asset deeply discounted (or sell super-inflated) on a whiplash price-movement. The disadvantage is that, ouch, all that beautiful liquidity is locked away, hardly ever, or never, to be used.
It's a balancing act.
Catch-all orders are sweet, when they occur, but they should never be relied on to, like: pay the bills.
